Filox-R™ High-Performance Media for Iron, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Manganese Removal

Part of our Resin and Media Range, Filox-R™ is a high-performance media specifically engineered for the removal of iron, hydrogen sulphide, and manganese from water. This advanced media does not require oxidizing chemicals for regeneration, making it both efficient and environmentally friendly.

Filox-R™ sets itself apart by outperforming traditional media like Birm and Greensand. With a superior service flow rate of 6 gpm/cu.ft and an effective backwash rate of 12-15 gpm/sq.ft, it stands as the highest flow rate standard iron removal media available, delivering unmatched performance and longevity.

Key Features of Filox-R™

1. Exceptional Contaminant Removal

Filox-R™ excels in the removal of iron, hydrogen sulphide, and manganese, without the need for chemical oxidizers. It provides a high level of filtration, significantly improving water quality and safety.

2. High Flow Rates and Efficiency

Featuring a service flow rate of 28 m/hr and a backwash rate of 36 m/hr, Filox-R™ ensures superior water flow and efficient contaminant removal. This makes it an ideal choice for systems that demand high flow rates and consistent performance.

3. Optimal pH and Oxygen Requirements

For iron removal, Filox-R™ requires a pH of 7 or higher. For manganese removal, a pH of 8 or more is necessary, along with a dissolved oxygen level that is at least 15% of the iron and manganese content. These conditions are crucial for maximizing the media's effectiveness.

4. Durability and Longevity

With a density of 2 Kg/litre, Filox-R™ is a robust and heavy media, providing extended service life and requiring less frequent replacement compared to traditional options. Its 30%-50% freeboard ensures optimal operation during the backwashing process.

Product Specifications

  • Service Flow Rate: 28 m/hr
  • Backwash Rate: 36 m/hr
  • Density: 2 Kg/litre
  • pH Range: 6.8 to 9.0
  • Freeboard: 30%-50%

How much is required? A typical 14x65 cylinder would require 3 bags of Filox-R™ for optimal performance.

Pros and Cons of Filox-R™ Media

    Pros:

  • Superior Performance: Outperforms traditional media like Birm and Greensand by a wide margin.
  • Efficient Removal: Capable of removing iron, hydrogen sulphide, and manganese without chemical oxidizers.
  • Long-Lasting: High-density media ensures a longer service life, reducing replacement frequency.
  • High Flow Rates: Supports high service flow rates, ideal for demanding applications.

    Cons:

  • Heavy Media: Requires a high backwash flow rate due to its density, necessitating a robust system.
  • Specific Requirements: Needs specific pH levels and dissolved oxygen content for optimal performance.
